Obsessed with horses at an early age, Stephanie began taking hunt seat lessons from a local instructor at the age of seven. She became a member of the United States Pony Club, which provided her first introduction to eventing. During this time, she re-schooled a western reining horse that she had acquired and successfully campaigned him at USEA events.
Knowing that she wanted to make her passion for horses into a career, she attended the University of Findlay in Ohio and graduated with a B.S. in English Equestrian Studies and a B.S. in Business Management. Stephanie had the opportunity to work with green horses and spent a semester breaking an unhandled 2 year old Thoroughbred to saddle and teaching her basic skills such as clipping, tying, and trailer loading. After she “graduated” from Stephanie’s training, the filly went directly to the racetrack for additional training and was a successful stakes winner on the Ohio racing circuit.
Upon graduation, she worked for local barns in New Jersey and Pennsylvania where she further developed her teaching skills with children and adults of all levels.
Stephanie actively campaign her Irish Sport Horse, Clonshire Le Roy, at USEA sanctioned events and is working on bringing him up through the levels. She rides all of her horses solely in Prestige saddles because their saddle fit is impeccable and her horses are able to perform at their best.
In addition to competing, Stephanie enjoys a busy teaching schedule. Her students include riders of all levels, but they all share a desire for safe, systematic instruction that focuses on building a solid foundation through dressage, show jumping, and cross-country even if students do not want to compete. Stephanie believes that learning to ride outside of the ring is a crucial step in a student’s education and keeps both horse and rider fresh. Stephanie is a patient, caring instructor who strives to develop not only her students’ riding skills but also their horse management knowledge. She is certified with the American Riding Instructor Association and is also First Aid and CPR certified.
